OUTSTANDING ENTRIES SOUGHT FOR
LIBRARY ASSOCIATION / WHITAKER REFERENCE AWARDS
Librarians, publishers, other organizations and individuals have until
27 April 2001 to nominate today's outstanding print and electronic reference works. The Library Association / Whitaker Reference Awards, consist of:

two
Besterman/McColvin Medals for outstanding works of reference published in the UK - one for
print and one for electronic formats. Eligible works are those published from 1 January 2000 until 27 April 2001. Winners receive a cash prize of £500 and a prestigious golden medal.

the
Walford Award, for an individual who has made a sustained contribution to the science and art of bibliography in the UK. Winners receive a cash prize of £500 and a certificate.

Wheatley Medal, awarded jointly with the Society of Indexers, for an outstanding printed index published from 1 January 2000 until 27 April 2001 . Winners receive a cash prize of £500, a certificate and a prestigious golden medal.

Since 1970, the Reference Awards have recognised excellence; promoted awareness of outstanding reference books and products; encouraged quality; and set industry standards. This year's winners will be announced in Loughborough on 12 September during the
National Acquisitions Group conference.
