CILIP LOGO LAUNCHED Brand new identity for unified library and information organisation
Today saw the launch of the new logo for CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. The logo will identify the new organisation to come into being from 1 April, following the unification of the Library Association and the Institute of Information Scientists. Details of the new logo, together with design guidelines and a CD-ROM containing versions of the logo in various different technical formats, were presented at a meeting of Members representing the two current organisations’ Branches and Special Interest Groups. In addition, all Members are being sent a special CILIP Preview newsletter, reporting progress on the final stages of unification. "Unification represents a great opportunity for the new organisation, its Groups, Branches and Organisations in Liaison," say the design guidelines that will be made available to everyone entitled to use the CILIP logo on their own stationery, publicity material, publications and Websites. "To take maximum advantage of that opportunity, we must have a strong brand to help us get our messages out." CILIP’s logo will start appearing on the organisation’s output from April 1, and there will be special versions of the logo for the home nations. Two further new brands will be launched at the same time – Update (CILIP’s monthly magazine, which will replace the IIS’s Inform and the LA’s Record), and Facet Publishing, the successor to LA Publishing. The LA’s recruitment agency INFOmatch will retain its existing identity after unification. CILIP’s Web address will be www.cilip.org.uk and its general email address will be info@cilip.org.uk. Editors who would like electronic
versions of the new CILIP logo to illustrate news items and features are invited
