REVISED PROPOSALS FOR A NEW ORGANISATION FOR THE LIBRARY AND INFORMATION PROFESSION:

IMPLEMENTATION

We recommend that an Implementation Task Force is set up to oversee the detailed planning necessary to wind up the existing organisations and bring the new organisation into being.

The following decision-making process and timetable is envisaged:

September 1999 IIS AGM agrees the proposal set out in the document ‘Our Professional Future: revised proposals for a new organisation for the library and information profession’, on condition that the LA AGM so resolves.
October 1999 LA AGM agrees the proposal set out in the document ‘Our Professional Future: revised proposals for a new organisation for the library and information profession’, on condition that the IIS AGM has already done so.
January 2000 Implementation Task Force, and SIGs task force, established.
Autumn 2000 IIS AGM considers proposed Royal Charter and new Byelaws and resolution to wind up in favour of the new organisation, on condition that the LA AGM so resolves.
Autumn 2000 LA AGM and Council considers proposed Royal Charter and new Byelaws and resolution to wind up in favour of the new organisation, on condition that the IIS AGM has already done so.
2001 Work by Implementation Task Force to resolve Branch and Group structures; discussions with Privy Council.
1 January 2002 Vesting day of new organisation [provisional]
