Background Reading

A bibliography of published material is located here. It is based upon the Open for All? research with additional documents focussed on the Network Society and community use of information and communications technologies.

A number of research projects funded by the British Library Research and Innovation Centre / LIC have been published covering topics related to excluded groups. A full list of reports is on the LIC website: details of relevant reports are listed here.

LIC also published a number of policy and briefing reports that met national concerns.

Resource

Re:source (the Council for Museums Archives and Libraries), as the strategic agency working with and for museums, archives and libraries in the UK has published a number of relevant documents. A Learning and Information Society team leads on matters to do with exclusion, lead by Chris Batt. There is a Resource News mailing list to keep up with events and publications. Also keep in touch by logging on to http://www.resource.gov.uk/news/whatsnew.html

Two recent publications to be read are:

Information and Communications Technology and the Development of Museums, Archives and Libraries. Consultation document with closing date of 1 July 2001.

Using Museums, Archives and Libraries to Develop a Learning Community. Consultation document with closing date of 1 July 2001. http://www.resource.gov.uk/information/policy/usestrat.pdf
