Welcome to the preview of the sixth in a successful run of biennial conferences which bring people from all corners of the library world together. The UmbrelLA meetings are all about members of the profession getting together to discuss shared interests and concerns - not forgetting simply having a good time. A lot of the hard work is done by the Association's special interest Groups which provide a wide-ranging programme of talks and interactive sessions. We feature just some of the Groups' plans and will provide more information in April.

But the talks programme is not all there is - with more than 1,300 delegates expected we have a choice of social events planned and we know that you will make the most of this great opportunity for networking. The Exhibition of products and services is proving ever popular with over three-quarters of the available space booked already including a number of companies who are new to the UmbrelLA conferences. With so much going on we offer a range of attendance choices as outlined on the Booking Form.

Exhibition

Umist's large 1,400sq.m. Renold Building exhibition space is the setting for the unique exhibition of library goods and services. This is your opportunity to see many of your familiar suppliers plus first time exhibitors who often use the exhibition as a 'nursery' before expanding into larger shows. Visit the best and latest free on Thursday 5 July from 2pm - and stay on for the complimentary drinks party; or on Friday 6 July from 10 am. When you feel like a break - and for your informal networking - we provide complimentary hot and cold drinks; there is a choice of cafés and bars and our Cyber Centre will keep you in touch with base.
